The physical component of yoga, HATHA YOGA is the most commonly known and practiced in the west. Hatha Yoga consists of asanas (poses or postures) which focus on controlled movement, concentration and conscious breathing. Pranayama (breathing) is also a technique that prepares the body for “stillness" which creates mental relaxation. Yoga postures can be basic or complex. The movements are slow and controlled, but dynamic. Some of the benefits of practicing Yoga are strength, stamina, stress reduction, increased flexibility and better circulation. Body and mind are stretched beyond their everyday limits and made to act in unison. Below are the Yoga programs offered by Studio Fitness with class size limited to 12 participants. Private sessions also available.
 

IYENGAR

Slower movements that are held with emphasis on exploring the subtleties of each  position.  Props such as belts, chairs, and blankets are used to help bodies feel more comfortable in a pose.  Meditation and relaxation segment includes.

Introduction to yoga designed to give the novice the fundamentals of yoga and its benefits, while preparing the student for advancement as the session progresses.  Basic Hatha yoga postures, breathing fundamentals and relaxation are included.


VINYASA YOGA

A variety of Hatha yoga postures with modifications made according to students' flexibility. Relaxation and meditation included.


KUNDALINI YOGA

Kundalini yoga involves classic poses, breath, coordination of breath and movement, and meditation.


ASHTANGA YOGA VINYASA SERIES

This challenging yoga class is for experienced yoga students.  Participants will learn to use the method of vinyasa through the meditative state of mind with flow of postures.


ASHTANGA YOGA

A challenging yoga class involving more rigorous flow of movement and strength postures. For the experienced Yoga student.


YOGA FOR ATHLETES

Designed for active athletes to stay in shape by strengthening and stretching.  This class will help you gain strength and help to protect against injuries.


MEN'S YOGA

This early morning Hatha yoga class is specifically designed for male participants at all levels. Breathing exercises and relaxation are incorporated.


YOGA-SUTRA MIX

A new series of classes with instructors trained by Master Teacher Ranjitha Sandeep.  Designed for more experienced yoga practitioners, although modifications can be made for those who have only recently discovered it.  Strengthen and stretch while you nurture your mind, body and soul..
